Job Summary
This position is responsible for direct patient care for adults, elderly patients, and unit support activities. Direct patient care includes performance of basic hemodialysis techniques and procedures, daily patient care and observations under the direct supervision and guidance of a registered nurse. Unit support activities include cleaning and disinfection of the hemodialysis machine, reprocessing of hemodialyzers and testing of the water treatment system, preparation of bicarbonate dialysate and acid concentrate, drawing blood samples and preparing them for transport to the laboratory, and perform both simple and complex laboratory tests and the required quality controls. Participates in quality improvement activities to maintain patient care standards.
